McWane/Amerex Donates Fire Suppression Equipment to Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Haiti
April 3, 2014
Amerex/McWane was featured recent on The Crudem Foundation website for their assistance to the Hôpital Sacré Coeur. Hôpital Sacré Coeur is located in Milot, a town with over 20,000 people and the site of Haiti’s most popular tourist attraction. Unfortunately there is no fire department in Milot – the closest one is nearly 2- miles away in Cap-Haitien, Haiti’s second largest city and the firefighting equipment is largely non-functioning. Apparently the only equipment that works is located at the airport and cannot leave the airport without permission from officials in Port-au-Prince.
To correct this problem, the Hôpital held a major campaign to improve their firefighting equipment and over a 6 month period added 30 new handheld fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. And thanks to the generosity of Amerex/McWane, two 300 lb. Amerex wheeled fire extinguishers were also added to the new firefighting equipment inventory as well.
One of the 300 lb. units will be located at the hospital and the other at the General Services annex. This new equipment will make Hôpital Sacré Coeur a much safer place to work and possibly save lives in the future.
McWane and Amerex are proud to have the opportunity to lend a helping hand to our friends in Haiti.
