  • 2019 Ergo Cup - Most Innovative Project - Kennedy Valve Company, Elmira, New York - Kloster Motorization Conveyor

    Kennedy Valve came up with a bulk system to dispense Inoculates, carbon and 75% silica onto the scale which eliminated the lifting, bending, twisting and shoveling by team members. 

  • 2018 Pollution Prevention Challenge - Energy Efficiency (E2) Award: Kennedy Valve Company - Dust collection solutions with better pulse valve technology

  • 2018 McWane Ergo Cup - 1st Runner Up: Kennedy Valve Company, Elmira, New York - Ladle Guard

    Developed a cable guard on a hinge that operator pushes into place vs. picked up a 45 lb. cable guard to put around the cables.

  • 2018 American Foundry Society - Green Foundry Case Study Awards

    AFS presents first-ever Green Foundry Case Study Awards | American Foundry Society

    The American Foundry Society’s EHS Division presented its inaugural Green Foundry Case Study Awards on Oct. 10.

    The Green Foundry Case Study Awards recognize AFS Corporate Members for achievements in sustainable industry, innovation and environmental engagement. The winners are:

    • Kennedy Valve, a division of McWane, (Elmira, NY), first prize in sustainable industry
    • Waupaca Foundry, Inc. (Waupaca, WI), runner-up in sustainable industry
    • Amsted Rail Company (Griveport, Iowa), runner-up in sustainable industry
    • Clow Valve, a division of McWane, (Oskaloosa, IA), first prize in innovation
    • Waupaca Foundry, Inc. (Waupaca, WI), first prize in environmental engagement

    This marks the first year the Green Foundry Case Study Awards have been presented. Winners were honored at the AFS 30th Environmental, Health and Safety Conference in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

  • 2017 Outstanding Environmental Performance — Foundry

    The following factors are considered in the selection process for the current calendar year:

    • Environmental Audit grade
    • opsEnvironmental implementation — configuration, training and use
    • McWane EHS MS implementation (environmental portion)
    • Diligence in addressing audit and other corrective actions
    • Demonstrated senior management commitment to environmental excellence
    • Relationship with regulators (local, state and federal)
    • Amount and quality  of resources applied to environmental management
    • Receptiveness to and participation in company-wide environmental initiatives
    • Innovative ideas and solutions on environmental matters
  • 2017 Screaming Eagle Award: McWane EHS Excellence

    This is a joint award for Environmental and Safety & Health Excellence. The top three performers in the Outstanding HS Performance award are submitted to the Environmental Group, who also determines their top three performing facilities. From this list of top contenders, the facility with the overall best EHS performance in the company is selected for the award.

  • 2016 Most Improved RIR - Foundry - Kennedy Valve Company

    Kennedy Valve Company is awarded the Most Improved RIR Rate – Foundry.

    The Recordable Incident Rate (RIR) is determined by taking the number of incidents occurred in a year’s period which require medical treatment, restricted work activity, or lost time and multiplying that by 200,000 and dividing by the total number of hours worked at the facility during the year.  The Most Improved RIR Rate is determined by calculating at year end, the RIR rate for each of our foundries and looking at the percent improvement when compared to their previous year end TRIR.  The facility with the greatest percentage of improvement from the previous year is given the award.
